Papa Bues Viking Jazz Band is a Danish jazz band that plays Dixieland and New-Orleans-Jazz. They are best known for "Sitting in a pub" and the theme from the Olsen Gang .

 

New Orleans Jazz Band was founded in 1956 by Arne Bue Jensen (8 May 1930 - 2 November 2011). In 1958 he formed Papa Bue's Viking Jazz Band, who achieved international status as one of the most significant in its genre. In 1969 it participated in jazz festival in New Orleans, where Papa Bue was honored with the "golden keys".

Many of jazz bigwigs has performed with the orchestra. Edmond Hall, Charlie Shavers , JC Higginbotham, Stuff Smith , Ben Webster , Albert Nicolas, Wingy Manone, Wild Bill Davison and many others. The crew has been fairly stable, but there have been changes over the years. One of their stars was the 1985 clarinetist John Defferary in 1998 alternated with Chris Barber Jazz & Blues Band.

 

The music is still the good old jazz - based on the New Orleans tradition with influences from including Duke Ellington , Fats Waller and Louis Armstrong . The orchestra has performed across most of Europe, Australia and Asia.
